Some basic home remedies of Seborrheic dermatitis natural treatment

You may be able to control seborrheic dermatitis with some lifestyle changes and a few home remedies that have been in use for centuries. This seborrheic dermatitis natural treatment is easy to use and is fairly inexpensive. You may need to try a combination of these products for best effect as it mostly depends on your skin type. For oily skin, it is not advised to use any form of oil or butter as it may invigorate the condition. The same is true for over-the-counter shampoos that contain antifungal components.

Basic home remedies

The following remedies do not require any prescription and is generally used for relief.

  • Soften and remove scales from scalp: Apply mineral oil or olive oil to your scalp. Leave it for an hour, and then remove the loosened flakes using your fingers.

  • Apply a mild corticosteroid cream: If this does not show results, use an antifungal cream containing ketoconazole.

  • Avoid products containing alcohol: Alcohol causes irritation to flare up.

  • Trim your facial hair regularly:  Since this condition affects more men than women, unkempt facial hair triggers an irritation as well. Consider shaving it off or, at least, keeping the growth in control.

  • Avoid scratching and be gentle with infants: For sensitive areas like eyelids and for infants affected by cradle cap, be gentle by using cotton swabs or a soft brush. Using your hands on such areas may cause excess irritation.
